The Waseda International House of Literature (The Haruki Murakami Library)

The Waseda International House of Literature at Waseda University opened in October 2021. In addition to his literature, various books and documents are stored, and there is also an audio space, a cafe, and a gallery. We were in charge of art direction and design for visuals mainly around the bookshelves in the library, special website, special exhibition, and goods (released later).

2021年10月1日にオープンした早稲田大学国際文学館（通称：村上春樹ライブラリー）
本棚周りを中心としたビジュアル、特設サイトや企画展、
グッズ（後日リリース予定）のアートディレクション・デザインを担当。
村上氏が母校である早稲田大学に資料の寄託・寄贈したことがきっかけとなり設立に至り、
建築家・隈研吾氏が館内のリノベーションを手掛けている。
大階段本棚では、サインに加え“パラレルワールド”のような2つの世界で存在する人形を制作。
村上文学の特徴のひとつといえる“現実と非現実があいまいに混在する世界”を表現した。
特設サイトでは大階段本棚と人形をグラフィックに落とし込み展開、
本を読む人々は自由に動き回り、実際の国際文学間同様の「文学の場」を表現している。

“Jazz and Literature: Scoring Sound/Cutting Language”

We were in charge of the main visual and graphics for an exhibition that is now being held.

It focuses the connections between jazz and literature. From introduction of novels written by Murakami and other popular novelists, you can see Japanese jazz culture and the relationship between jazz/jazz cafes and novelists of the time.

We adopted record shape as the key visual of the graphics.
They evoke two themes of the exhibition: “sound” and “language”.

早稲田大学国際文学館（村上春樹ライブラリー）で開催中の
展覧会のメインビジュアル・展示のグラフィックを担当。
本展では「ジャズと文学」の結びつきに注目。
村上春樹ら多数作家の小説から、日本のジャズ文化、

当時の小説家たちとジャズ／ジャズ喫茶の関係などを観ることができる。

円型のレコードをグラフィックに落とし込んで展開。
今回のテーマにある「音」と「言葉」の2つを想起させるビジュアルに。
